Welcome to Marlborough State School.
Our school was established in 1917 and we are honoured to have played a part in the education of the children of the Marlborough district. Students and staff are very proud of their school and being a small rural school, students enjoy a family type environment.
Quality Learning
Explicit Instruction provides students with opportunities to know, practise and master the skills and knowledge they need to move through school with success. At Marlborough State School, we are committed to ensuring that your children are skilled in literacy and numeracy. The classrooms are active learning environments where all students from Prep to Year 6 enjoy working independently in a caring and supportive environment. Students enjoy a range of learning experiences where they get to work independently, in small groups and as a whole class.
Students have opportunities to participate in a range of other learning experiences which enhance their learning. Every year the students enter the art and school work section of the Marlborough Show, with many budding young artists receiving prizes and recognition for their artistic and academic talents. Students participate in a number of activities that allow them to enjoy and experience lifelong learning skills. These include planting and maintaining a vegetable garden and caring and nurturing for our hens.
A Caring Environment
At Marlborough, we want students to be Safe, Respectful and Responsible learners. Our students are supported by caring and competent staff members and the philosophy of a supportive school is embedded within the school culture and is reflected in a code of behaviour based on a set of principles that are understood, accepted and practised by all members of the school community. We have a Responsible Behaviour plan which supports students in their growth and emphasises the notion of acknowledging good behaviour. We see the results of this each week on parade where students are acknowledged for doing the right thing.
The school motto is Honesty and Trust with students at Marlborough State School encouraged to respect others, strive to be the best they can be and maintain strong family values.
